Stefano,
   I wonder if you want to try the coreos latest image which can be
downloaded here
https://stable.release.core-os.net/amd64-usr/current/coreos_production_openstack_image.img.bz2?

   Since your cloud supports user data, upload the generic coreos image and
run the test may provide some information on why the earlier tests failed.
That is the image I have been using for the tests.

Some more details on this.

``` journalctl -xe``` shows that $private_ipv4 is probably empty
